Halloween 2017
For Halloween 2017, I decorated my apartment in a mad science theme. For it, I created four versions of my dog Chewie. Pictured here is Chewie IV, a fetus in what used to be my jellyfish tank.
To make the fetus, I made a clay sculpture of a dog fetus (I’m sure Google has an even stranger impression of me after the amount of Googling I had to do to find a few good example images), cut it in half, baked it in my oven, and took some molds. Into these I poured a platinum silicone mixture.
I then glued the two halves together.
I used a thick metal wire covered in a rubber tube to create an umbilical cord that also held the fetus in place in the liquid.
I used a string of lit eyeballs to adjust my American Lion skull, and give it eyes that lit up. I removed all but two of the plastic eyeballs.
And placed them in a jar!
I made use of this part from my iMac Aquarium to make a lit-up doohickey.
Cut off the top.
Added blue EL Wire.
Chewie II was a skeleton.
Me as a a mad scientist, holding Chewie III (note the Frankenstein’s monster collar). My cousin and his girlfriend were Alan Grant and Ellie Satler, which made me deeply happy.
